What is Garden Roots?
Garden Roots is a handmade Japanese culture brand creating works for quiet, artful spaces. We offer handwritten calligraphy works and bonsai-inspired pieces made with Japanese craftsmanship.
Are your products made in Japan?
Yes. The works featured by Garden Roots are made by hand in Japan.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes. We ship internationally. Delivery is usually completed in approximately 7 to 21 days.
Can I return or exchange an item?
Eligible items may be returned within 30 days of delivery if they are unused, in their original packaging, and include all parts and accessories. Custom-made products, personalized items, sale items, and gift cards are non-returnable. Please see our refund policy for details.
Calligraphy
Can I order in English?
Yes. You can order in either English or Japanese. If needed, we can suggest the most suitable kanji or wording based on your idea.
What kind of text can I request?
You can request a name, a word, a short phrase, or a concept. Custom calligraphy works are made to order in Japan.
I do not know the right kanji. Can you help?
Yes. If you send us the meaning or image in English, we can suggest a natural and visually fitting Japanese expression.
Are the calligraphy works printed or handwritten?
They are handwritten, not printed. Each work is created by hand in Japan, and differences in brushwork, composition, and empty space are part of what makes each piece unique.
How long does it take to create a calligraphy work?
Production usually takes about 3 to 7 days.
Bonsai
Are the bonsai pieces real plants?
No. All of our bonsai pieces are faux bonsai. They are decorative works inspired by the beauty and form of bonsai.
Do they require plant care?
No. They do not require water, sunlight, or daily plant care.
